Rare 1968 Arnold Daghani Original Minimal Ink on Paper Work, Framed, Signed, Dated '68

$250.00 Sold out

Original ink on paper Work by Arnold Daghani. It is framed, signed and dated. Much of this artist's work is held in museums and private collections, so there isn't much available on the open market.

The piece is minimally painted in black pigment over what appears to be fine thin rice paper. The work features a primitively rendered image of a cow's head next to a woman's head. It has a whimsy to it that is quite delightful. It has the feel of calligraphy. It is nicely framed with a double mat.

Mr. Daghani was a fascinating person; a talented writer and linguist in addition to visual artist. He was a holocaust survivor whose experiences alongside his wife in a Nazi labor camp informed much of the imagery in his art. The artist was a restless soul moving around post-war Europe and Israel, but he found a home in England where he lived much of his later life.

The thin paper appears to be pasted down on a backing sheet and has some typical wrinkles. There also appears to be small closed tears at the top and bottom corner on the right side. Other than that the art is in good vintage condition.

Framed it measures about 20.5" W x 26.5" H
