Antique Book Press 1893 Chicago World's Fair Columbian Exposition

$1,500.00

This is a wonderful antique Book Press that was featured at the historic 1893 Chicago World's Fair, the Columbian Exposition. It retains the label referencing the Columbian Exposition. This was the first Chicago World's Fair named "The Columbian Exposition" because of its theme, celebrating 400 years since Columbus reached America.

This is one of the best original, unrestored examples of this book press we have seen.

This item has cross-over appeal. Collectors of World's Fair-related items will find it intriguing as will fans of industrial found-object sculpture. Book people, well, you're going to love it!

It is in very good vintage condition. The paint and decorations are mostly intact with some wear and scuffs. The mechanism works smoothly. It has not been restored or retouched; all we have done is wipe it down and give the mechanism a bit of oil. The patina is excellent, and it is ready to display or use as-is.

Needless to say, this iron book press is very heavy, but we can ship it padded and well-boxed to save you the need for expensive Chairish in-house shipping.

At its lowest setting it measures 17"w x 11"d x 12"h.
